Kenston concluded its postseason run and season in difficult fashion with a 27-12 loss at Canfield in the Regional Quarterfinal. The team overcame a tremendous amount of injuries and adversity throughout the season but still finished with an impressive 7-5 record and eighth straight postseason appearance.
Number-one-seeded Canfield got off to a quick start on their home turf, ending their first drive with a 7-0 lead on a 24-yard touchdown pass play.
The two teams exchanged fruitless drives and then Kenston got on the board with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jack Bryner to Kahlil Hinton. A trick play attempt at a two-point conversion failed and the score was 7-6.
On Canfield's next drive, Max George intercepted a deep Cardinal pass attempt and Kenston took over in their own territory.
The teams again traded punts though, and when Kenston got the ball back, an opposing defender intercepted a Bomber pass and took it back 61 yards for a score to make it 14-6 Canfield.
Canfield capitalized on two more scoring drives before the half to take a commanding 24-6 lead at the break.
Kenston kept at it and chipped away at the lead when Bryner found George on a 57-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 24-12 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Though Kenston had some additional chances to close the gap, Canfield added another field goal just before the close of the game to bring it to the 27-12 final score.
Bryner finished the game 11-for-23 for 148 yards and two touchdowns passing. George led the team in receiving with three catches for 74 yards and the TD. Will Hamm led the rushing effort with 12 carries for 55 yards.
Three Bomber defenders finished with 10+ tackles: Jake Rostocil (12), Colin Weiland (11), and Tucker Meeks (10). Weiland finished his career as the second-most leading tackler in program history with 299. Rostocil's 137 tackles on the year represented the third most ever in a season.
Though senior kicker Grady Kucharson was held scoreless in the game, he contributed on five punts that averaged 45.2 yards and pinned it inside the Cardinals' 20 four times. He concluded his stellar career with school records of 198 career points by a kicker, 24 career field goals made, and 9 field goals made in a season (2025).
