Kenston stuck to the formula that had gotten them their prior two wins - run the ball and play great defense - in a 42-14 defeat of new Suburban League rival Twinsburg.

Kenston wasted no time on its opening possession. After a 49-yard run by running back Will Hamm got the Bombers within striking distance, quarterback Michael Cieslak kept the ball on an 11-yard scamper to put Kenston up 7-0.

Twinsburg answered, however, with a methodical 10-play drive that culminated in a 25-yard touchdown pass play to even it at 7-7.

Kenston then turned it over on downs and Twinsburg missed a field goal try to end the first quarter relatively quietly.

Wide receiver Kahlil Hinton dominated on the next drive for Kenston - first catching a 33-yard pass from Cieslak, then hauling in a 35-yarder. That set up running back Tucker Meeks for hist first of two TD runs on the night to give Kenston the 14-7 lead.

The Bomber defense then forced a Tiger punt that was returned by Hamm for 25 yards. Five runs later, Jackson Ehrenbeit ran it in from three yards out to give Kenston a 21-7 advantage.

Kenston's D forced a three-and-out but was then forced to punt it away. However, the first big defensive play of the night was turned in on the next defensive series when safety Bobby Hairston picked off a Twinsburg pass and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown to make it 28-7 Kenston going into halftime.

Twinsburg came out of the locker room with a plan though and scored on a 19-yard touchdown pass to bring them within 28-14.

Kenston ran the ball nine out of the next 10 plays and achieved a 35-14 lead when Meeks ran in his second score of the night from two yards out.

The second big play by the defense and special teams came on the next Tiger drive when instead of getting off a clean kick, Ethan Burge leapt to block a Twinsburg punt attempt . Eric Lemons scooped up the ball and took it in for a TD from two yards out. That would end the scoring on the night with Kenston prevailing 42-14.

Cieslak completed 6-of-9 pass attempts for 101 yards passing. Hamm led the ground game, gaining 134 yards on 20 carries. Hinton led all receivers with five catches for 89 yards.

On defense, Meeks filled the stat sheet with eight tackles (4 solo), three tackles for a loss and a massive five QB hurries.

Jake Rostocil tallied nine tackles (eight solo) and a TFL. Those tackles gave him 215 for his career which now places him in third all-time at Kenston. He passed Matt Iklodi (class of 2019) who had 214 career stops for the Bombers.

Kenston will next host Aurora on October 2.
