Coach Ickes has been the cross country head coach at Kenston High School since the 2007-2008 academic year and the head coach of the track and field programs since 2007.

During his tenure as head cross country coach, the boys team has won 10 conference championships, one District championship, and one Regional Championship.  The girls team has won two conference championships, two District Championships, one Regional championship and finished as State Runners-Up in 2022.

During his tenure as head track and field coach, the boys team has won two conference championships.

Ickes attended Kenston High School and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Akron.  He currently works in software development.
